The next step.
Simply explained.

The important parts of the claims guide, without the overwhelm. Keep this page alongside you as you prepare.

A new home for employee claims

New employee claims have moved from legacy uFiling to UIF Online. The older uFiling manual describes the previous system. This guide keeps its useful preparation steps while directing you to the current official route.

THE OFFICIAL SUBMISSION ROUTE

From account to acknowledgement.

01

Create or access your official account

Open the official UIF Online address. Follow the registration or sign-in prompts and complete the identity checks yourself. Keep passwords and one-time codes private.

Your UIFAssist login is separate from your government account.
02

Check your personal and bank details

Use the same names and identity details as your genuine documents. Follow the portal’s bank-verification requirements and use your own accepted bank account.

A name mismatch or unverified banking detail can hold up a claim.
03

Confirm your employment and leave

Check the employer record, maternity dates and pay received during leave. Ask the employer to correct missing or inaccurate declarations.

Do not change a maternity leave record to a resignation or dismissal.
04

Choose the maternity benefit application

Follow the current portal prompts. Supply the required details and attach the genuine documents the UIF requests for your circumstances.

Screen labels and document requests can change. Follow the current official instructions.
05

Review, declare and submit

Read every declaration. Check dates, amounts, attachments and signatures. Submit only when the information is accurate, then save the acknowledgement and reference.

Preparing a pack or uploading it to UIFAssist does not submit a UIF claim.
06

Check progress and respond

Use official updates to see whether more information is needed. Supply continuation information, such as UI-4, when requested and report your actual return-to-work date.

Do not postdate signatures. Approval and payment dates are decided by the UIF.

Prefer help at a Labour Centre?

You can ask the Department for direct assistance with your application. Bring the relevant genuine documents and ask which originals or copies are required. You do not need to purchase a private service to claim.

What changed from the attached uFiling guide?

The earlier manual covers registration, personal and banking details, employment history, applications, payment requests and claim history. Its employee screen instructions are now a historical reference. Employer administration is outside this maternity-focused guide. The steps above describe the preparation and actions you need, without presenting old screenshots as the current portal.

Reviewed 25 October 2026. Official portal wording and document requests may change. This is independent guidance, not a government-issued manual.
